What is a Shoutbox?

A Shoutbox (SB) or a tagboard is a small area (mostly private) web properties that acts as a sort of mini-guestbook in real time, thus closing the gap between the guestbook / forum and a real chat.

A Shoutbox is integrated into a small area of the website and regularly re-loaded, so that communication is possible, almost in real time without having to constantly be online. Furthermore, data must be provided for a basic functionality in the browser no active content like Java applets or JavaScript.
